Lake Windamere is just south of Mudgee in NSW. There are dead trees in the lake and at times they can look great. At other times they can have an other world appearance as in my virtual exhibition here:

In this black and white post the trees form silhouettes against a silvery background. I have seen images of the trees when the were covered by mist and the look very moody. It's just a pity that they are so hard to access as you really need a boat to get close up. These shots were taken from the road and the one advantage is that the water forms the background and not the hills on the other side.
