Still at the Shoalhaven River I was looking at my images when I noticed that the light on the water varied so much that you could do a tone scale. This is the tone scale, which is more of a lesson than a visual treat.
These shots were taken on the Shoalhaven River near Braidwood. I had taken shots of the river at Bundanon and Riversdale and further towards its mouth. I photographed here to complete a series for Eclectic Exhibitions my web site. This series is from the branches of the trees which form abstract patterns when viewed up close.
Arthur River is a small fishing village on the north-west coast of Tasmania. This series of images were taken at sunset at the river's mouth. These images are much more dramatic than what the scene was really like. The river cruise was very pleasant and the coastline south of there is great for photography.
Lake Windamere is just south of Mudgee in NSW. There are dead trees in the lake and at times they can look great. At other times they can have an other world appearance as in my virtual exhibition here:

In this black and white post the trees form silhouettes against a silvery background. I have seen images of the trees when the were covered by mist and the look very moody. It's just a pity that they are so hard to access as you really need a boat to get close up. These shots were taken from the road and the one advantage is that the water forms the background and not the hills on the other side.
America Bay is in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park to the north of Sydney. The park has some great creeks with colourful holes in them. The only pity is that it is a long drive across Sydney to get there. These images were taken in 2003 and besides featuring in one of my paintings they have not seen the light of day.
